SACRAMENTO — The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) today announced that CDCR Secretary Dr. Jeffrey Beard, 66, was confirmed by the California Senate with a 23-6 vote
Beard has served as acting CDCR Secretary since being appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in December 2012.
“I am honored to be working for the people of California and the Brown Administration, said Secretary Beard. “I am committed to ensuring California’s prison system holds offenders accountable, provides safe and secure facilities for staff as well as inmates, and expands innovative rehabilitative programs.
